With the Millennium Stadium said to be the world’s finest rugby ground right in the centre of the city, it’s little wonder that Cardiff is a city synonymous with spectacular sporting drama.
But it has more to offer. A compact capital close to stunning natural scenery, with the rich heritage of an international port, an interesting and individual range of museums, theatres, galleries, a diverse calendar of festivals and outdoor events, and an inherent strength and heritage in literature and song, Cardiff is a city with huge potential draw for visitors.
As with so much of our work, an effective partnership was created to help to unlock this wider potential. The 2016 Roald Dahl anniversary has supplied the focus for City of the Unexpected, a series of creative partnerships between major cultural institutions that will inspire the positioning of Cardiff as an exciting destination for the culturally motivated tourist. Visit Wales is ready to build on the legacy and take it forward via distinct cultural tourism strands in the capital and beyond.
